Evenings at home - Deborah DeWit Marchant
“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.”

  2. My favorite 'book friend' right now is Annie Dillard's "The Writing Life" which is filled with the most scrumptious delicacies of internal thought about the writing process since Ray Bradbury.

Annie describes her book as an 'embarrassing non-fiction narrative'. I guess even the best writers are never 100% satisfied they've chosen exactly the right words.

  3. So true! I just finished a fantasy ("The Hollow Kingdom") that I liked so much I read it twice.

Have heard about Dillard's book. Must add to wish list. Thanks.

  4. Kathryn: That's saying a lot about a book. Good writing is such a treasure and an inspiration for us, isn't it?
